I’ve had lots of people asking me for clarification on what I do lately. I’ll do my best to explain the medium part in this article. The way that I confirmed to myself that I’m a medium is through every day conversation with my friends back when I was a single mom working as a customer service rep. I noticed that when someone close to them passed away and they were talking about that person to me, I would begin to see that person in my mind and feel the spirits reactions to what was being said as well as the feelings of the person speaking to me. At times I would think that those were my own reactions, even if it wasn’t typically how I would react, because...well, how else would I interpret that being unaware of my ability? It happens in other ways too, not just with the dead. Because of this I had a reputation among my friends for always knowing just the right thing to say to help them understand and feel better. But it would drain me very much. So I would isolate myself a lot because inevitably my friends always wanted to talk to me about what they were going through in order to get my perspective. I would always leave those interactions overwhelmed with exhaustion. One day I just decided to take a chance of seeming crazy and ask my friend if his loved one fit the description of who I was seeing even though I had never met her. He confirmed it was basically an exact description of her and showed me a picture. Suddenly I was able to tell him what she wanted to say and answer some of his questions and give him the closure he was struggling to achieve since he wasn’t able to see her before her death. After that, I started describing my visions/feelings in other conversations and the same thing would happen. This is why sometimes I will ask you for a picture, item or story from the person’s life. I like to be able to tune in cold because it helps you feel more confident in my abilities, but I’ve always naturally connected through empathy since I was born. It’s easier for me and I’ll fall back on it in difficult readings/connections. I don’t have a set of rules for you to follow. I just want you to be comfortable and open so the quicker we can achieve that, the more we will squeeze out of our time. Not all mediums work the same. I learned a few things from other mediums when I was starting out, but my first mentor always encouraged me to allow spirit to teach me directly. Consequently, my method is fairly unique to me. Symbolism is often (but not exclusively) how spirits communicate with me visually. Sometimes I will hear their thoughts or feel their feelings. Sometimes I will smell or taste something. It’s different every time. I’ve learned how to put it all together through claircognizance and empathy in order to translate messages between yourself and your loved ones. It’s kind of like translating another language. Sometimes the meanings are not exact but this is why I can still connect to spirits who speak human languages, like Chinese or French, that I don’t speak. It’s also why I can communicate with animals. I’m not exactly speaking to the spirits on the other side in English. Language doesn’t exactly exist over there in my experience so it’s kind of hard to explain. There are generally accepted meanings for symbols and then I have my own “vocabulary” for symbols and so do you. A lot of times I’ll see images/symbols from their own lives or yours - even things that happened after their physical death that you didn’t think they were present for. A lot of times they will take me for a stroll through a house or a property. This is a form of remote viewing and is often given to me to help you (and me) be confident that the connection is legitimate. I’ll see places and things and I’d say 80% of the time I see an image of the way they like to see themselves or the way they prefer you to remember them. This is why when I do mediumship readings I will ask you to help me translate what I’m seeing and feeling rather than just channel/talk AT you like some mediums do. I literally mediate a meeting between you and the people on the other side so it’s a very personal and interactive experience for both of us. After a while, if the connection is good between YOU AND ME, I will start to speak the way they spoke and use mannerisms that they used. At this point, I’ve begun to channel them exclusively and I may start speaking in first person. I will not usually just start out with allowing a spirit to overshadow me like that. If you are rigid, fearful or just generally too wound up to focus, it typically won’t happen either way. I’m not discounting the validity of the channeling method some mediums use —the ones who ask you to sit there quietly. That’s not me though. We are all unique in our talents, gifts and methods and intuitive work is fluid by nature. If you can verify who/what is coming through then the psychic medium you’re working with is legitimate. If you went to someone else in the past, even if you had a reading with me in the past, please be open to a new experience during your appointment with me. I welcome and encourage skepticism but just be open to any and all validation being presented to you. If you don’t recognize it, that’s okay! We will either dismiss it or circle back to it later when you’re feeling more comfortable. If you come in with something set in your mind, for example—“I’ll know it’s real if she says .....”—-your energy will often block or complicate the flow because you’re rigidly focused on your expectations rather than the experience. It becomes harder for me to zero in on who is there for you if you’re distracted by your own preconceptions and/or fears. If I’m struggling to connect with YOU, then your spirits will struggle to connect with me. I think that’s why some mediums just tell you to stay quiet while they channel and then ask questions later. But I prefer a more personal experience and if you do too, then I might be the right medium for you.
